102 World Cruising Sloop Under Construction in Thailand

Silver Lining
, currently under construction at Phithak Shipyard in Satun, Thailand, is an S&S-designed 102 sloop with an interesting background. Design work originally began back in 1998 at S&S in New York, intended for a limited production run at a major shipyard in China. Halfway through the original build, the shipyard abandoned the project - leaving the completed aluminum hull and superstructure out in their storage yard.

Finally in 2008, an ambitious new owner took possession of the existing hull and all design and engineering information that had been completed to date. The hull was moved to Thailand, where she is now scheduled for completion this fall. All hull welding has been re-done to comply with ABS standards, systems have been updated for 2010 standards, and a modern new pilothouse was built to update the aesthetic of the yacht. Its wonderful to see this S&S yacht finally get the attention and care she deserves, and we hope she creates for her new owner and his family many happy cruising memories!
